Stan Hacking, conductor of the Concert Band
is an ex- Royal Marines Band Colour Sergeant
and served for 22 years home and abroad.
The leader is Colin Brocklebank, an ex-Royal
Marines Band Master, who also served 22 years
home and abroad.
The Concert Band was formed by Stan over
25 years ago, with around 12 musicians. This
has grown to a band of 60 plus, with ages
ranging from 12 years to let's say the
The Concert Band consists of woodwind, brass
and percussion. Many of the leaders
of the sections are teachers and Grade 8
players and all band members need to be at
least Grade 5 standard or equivalent.
The Band has gone from strength to strength
during the last 25 years and has undertaken
a large number of concerts in and around
Devon. All Concerts are for charity and
the Band has raised over £260,000 for
local and national charities. If you
